Dalhousie Lake Association
The Dalhousie Lake Association is led by a volunteer group of residents that act as Directors on behalf of Association members. All property owners on the lake are eligible and encouraged to join the Association. The Association is committed to supporting property owners and users of the lake to:

In collaboration with the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, as stewards of the lake, test, monitor and report on water quality, water levels, environmental conditions and related matters of concern.

Contribute to lake safety through the promotion of safe practices on the lake.

Support the community of Dalhousie Lake owners through information sessions, social activities, liaison with other lake associations and agencies to share best practices and emerging issues.As well, the Association supports owners through the timely sharing of updates on lake affairs and other urgent matters of common interest.

Represent Dalhousie Lake owners to take forward collective issues and coordinate interactions with responsible agencies and peer groups such as the Lake Networking Group of other lake associations in the region such as Watersheds Canada, etc..
In 2024, the Lake Association benefited from the membership of some 100 residents (of the approximately 225 properties on the Lake)
Highlights of Dalhousie Lake Association Activities and Priorities - 2024
The Dalhousie Lake Association remains committed to operating in an open, inclusive and transparent manner with an Annual General Meeting and continues to welcome feedback on key issues, priorities and value-added activities from all members that would better sustain our lake and benefit owners.
For example, in 2024 the Association sponsored the following information sessions and social activities. All owners, whether current members or non-members of the Lake Association are welcome and encouraged to attend.

A “pre” Canada Day celebration with a concert by “Fiddlers and Friends” on Sunday, June 30, 2024 @ 2:00 PM. Attendees joined by boat on the water or in-person at the Dalhousie Lake beach (Lavant Side Road, near Centennial Park/boat launch)

An information session on Saturday, July 6, 2024 @ 10:00 at the MERA schoolhouse in McDonalds Corners with two speakers:

Tim Wheeler of the Friends of Lanark Highlands to discuss issues affecting the Cavanagh Highland Line Pit application proposal and its impact on Barber’s Lake, the Long Sault and possible implications for other waterways including Dalhousie Lake, and;

A representative of the OPP Marine Unit to speak on legal aspects of boating/on-lake activities and safety practices (to be confirmed).

An AGM on August 26,2024 @ 10:00 with Jennifer North on the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority to discuss managing water levels across the watershed. As well, a report on the Dalhousie Lake Association affairs and priorities. While all owners are welcome to attend the AGM, only persons that are members of the Association are eligible to vote and help to shape the future of the Association.

The Lake Association will continue with our water testing program in July and September at four locations on the lake which will provide key information on the current health of our lake as well as historical trends and comparative data.

We are pleased to report that the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority has included Dalhousie Lake in its Integrated Monitoring program in 2024. This program seeks to collect and accumulate reliable environmental data and trends on a broad set of issues impacting lake and watershed health.

Word of Thanks – Members, Volunteers and Past President
Since it’s formation in 1959 (incorporated in 1978), the Lake Association has continued to make a significant contribution to sustaining the quality of Dalhousie Lake and its environment. Equally, through our activities and information-sharing, we have improved the safety and enjoyment of the lake for owners and thousands of users each year. We greatly appreciate your on-going support and welcome any assistance that you may wish to provide. Importantly, we recognize the leadership of committed volunteers that have come forward to offer their time, energy and expertise over many years. In particular, the Association and its members wish to publicly recognize the enormous contribution of Judy Hall who has been president of the Association for since 2003. Judy’s leadership and perseverance has been instrumental is strengthening and ensuring that the Lake Association continues to exist to support and enjoy our beautiful lake.
