2025 Dalhousie Lake Association Newsletter and Activities
Each year the Lake Association publishes a newsletter in May providing comprehensive information on the Association, events and activities in the coming year, highlights from the previous year and information on joining the Lake Association. In terms of value for money for the annual membership fee of $25, typically, the major Lake Association's activities are broken into five (5) categories;

Information dissemination either through formal information sessions or updates to members via emails or postings to this website. In 2024, the Association sponsored an information session with two guest speakers on the Highland Line Pit and safety practices and legal requirements of on-lake activities. As well. Jennifer North of the MVCA made a presentation on Water Management in the Mississippi Valley watershed at the Annual AGM. 2024 witnessed historically high water levels in July and to assist owners with responding to these challenges, the Association provided some eight (8) regular email updates on changing conditions and issues affecting the Lake.

Water testing program - on a semi-annual basis, the Association draws samples from four (4) locations on the lake and has the samples tested by an independent laboratory for bacteria levels (e-coli) and phosphorus. The Association publishes the results of these tests to members maintains historical analysis on the results of these tests since 2008 for comparative trend analysis. This water testing program including volunteers to collect samples and lab expenses represents approximately 30% of total Association expenses.

Advocacy and liaison with regulatory agencies and peer groups such as the MVCA, Watersheds Canada, Federation of Ontario Cottagers' Association (FOCA), the Leeds, Grenville, Lanark Health Unit and local jurisdictions, businesses and public interest groups.

Member engagement including an Annual General Meeting including discussions on strategic objectives, priorities, financial reporting and nomination and voting on the Association Board of Directors.

Social activities including tours, concerts (such as the Canada Day concert in 2024) and other events to learn about, and celebrate our lake.
